Astrology as it is practiced today only is an language. That is because in the long history of astrology astrologers turned out not to be able to conduct any fundamental research into astrology itself. The first steps in this research have been set by Francoise and Michel Gauquelin, but the results of their efforts are not commonly welcomed by astrologers.
This language of astrology is to be found in horoscopes and horoscope interpretations. Astrologers do their utmost best to make ambiguous statements in horoscope reports and call it "symbolic language" or "archetypes". Therefore, most horoscope reports should be characterized as cold reading. This is caused by these facts:
- Astrologers use standard [ and outdated] formulas for making horoscope interpretations
- Research efforts devoted to the problem of the correctness of these formulas are missing
- Research efforts devoted to the application of psychology and personality theories to horoscope interpretation are very scarce; these effort got unnoticed by the astrological community
- The personality repertoire of astrologers [ typology ] in fact is limited to the description of the "characters" of the 12 sun signs, all astrologers knowing that these "characters" do not exist in any consistent way.
These four shortcomings are due to astrologers, they are not deficiencies of astrology itself.

Well, anyone would recognize this text as totally or at least mostly describing him or herself : cold reading as is the praxis of astrologers. I myself would be very embarrassed if I would produce this kind of text pretending to describe someone's personality.
